Coolmore lands bonus with exciting winner

ZOFFANY looked another Racing Post Yearling Bonus winner to follow with a cosy debut success in today's Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden over 6f at Leopardstown.

After tracking the leaders he showed a taking turn of foot to quicken clear of his rivals. At the line he was an unextended one-and-a-half length winner over Gold Post, by Alhaarth.

His victory comes a day after the Jim Bolger-trained Head Space thumped his rivals by five lengths when winning on his debut and scooping his connections a £10,000 bonus atNaas.

Zoffany is trained by Aidan O'Brien and carries the silks of Coolmore associate Michael Tabor. He was purchased by John Magnier for 220,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October yearling sale, out of the consignment of Croom House Stud.

Coolmore general manager Christy Grassick said: "The bonus scheme is something the game needed. It is an incentive for people to buy horses and that is a good thing.

"It has been well received and anything that helps the prize money situation is welcome."

Zoffany is by Banstead Manor Stud stallion Dansili and out of the Machiavellian mare Tyranny, from the family of Cassydora, Claxon and Zimzalabim.

It has been a fine weekend for Dansili, as he was also on the mark today at Leopardstown with easy Listed Heritage Stakes winner Famous Name, and at the Capannelle in Italy with Listed Premio Natale di Roma winner Abaton.

At Newbury yesterday he was represented by impressive Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes winner Harbinger.
