Zenyatta's sister Balance booked for Frankel

BALANCE, a triple Grade 1-winning half-sister to Zenyatta, arrived at the National Stud in Newmarket on Monday in preparation for being covered by dual world champion Frankel at Banstead Manor Stud.

A ten-year-old daughter of Thunder Gulch, Balance was trained by David Hofmans to top-flight victories in the Las Virgines Stakes, Santa Anita Oaks and Santa Margarita Handicap.

She is out of the winning Kris S mare Vertigineux, who also produced 13-time Grade 1 winner Zenyatta, the first female to win the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Vertigineux is also the dam of Eblouissante, a four-year-old daughter of Bernardini who won on her debut in November.

Balance, owned by John and Jerry Amerman, is the dam of Mr Besilu, an A.P. Indy colt who was her first foal and topped the 2010 Keeneland September Yearling Sale at $4.2 million.

Balance also has a three-year-old colt by Street Cry in training in Japan. She produced a Smart Strike colt last year and visited Giant's Causeway afterwards.

Unbeaten Frankel has attracted an illustrious book of mares in his first season. Balance is not the only visitor from North America; among the others is reigning Kentucky broodmare of the year Oatsee.
