Wright succeeds Hedley as NGC chairman

THE Thoroughbred Breeders' Association's Next Generation Committee founding chairman Jane Hedley is passing the baton to Zenia Wright after three years at the helm.

THE NGC is the brainchild of Kirsten Rausing and aims to encourage and retain a younger audience to the bloodstock industry.

Wright has over 15 yearsof experience in the thoroughbred industry including roles at Racing UK, The Jockey Club, the TBA and New Zealand Bloodstock.

She will work alongside NGC vice-chairman Tim Kent, a director at DBS.

Wright thanked Hedley and vice-chairman Daniel Polak, saying: "If anything, Jane and Dan have had the hardest job in getting the club off the ground. They have worked tirelessly to make the original contacts and establish some really great events which wecan now build on."

The Committee has also welcomed Student Racing director Mike Spence and Darley's Head of European Marketing Alison Rea to the team.  Their fellow members include bloodstock agent Matt Coleman, Hot To Trot Racing syndicate manager Sam Hoskins, Tattersalls' Hetty Stearn, Gina Bryce from At The Races and Whitsbury Manor Stud's Ed Harper.

NGC events for 2012 start with discounted admission tickets at Newbury Racecourse, on Saturday, March 3, which offers some of the season's best jump racing and exciting equestrian activities.  The NGC are then back at Newbury on March 24 for the EBF/TBA Mares Final Day which will be preceded by an exclusive members' trip to Jamie Snowden's yard in Lambourn.
