Zarkava lands Arc ahead of Youmzain, It's Gino and Soldier Of Fortune - Longchamp 5/10

It's Gino, on the rail, is beaten only by Zarkava and Youmzainin the Arc

It's Gino destined for stud in Germany

LAST year's Arc dead-heat third It's Gino will begin his stallion career at Gestüt Rietberg in Westphalia, Germany, next year.

The son of Perugino won his first seven starts, five of which were in his native Germany including a Group 2 over 1m3f at Baden-Baden, and two in France including a 1m4f Listed race on heavy ground at Longchamp.

He was subsequently placed in four starts, three of which were Group 1s, including his dead-heat third with Soldier Of Fortune behind Zarkava. This effort earned him the title of 2008 German Horse of the Year.

The then five-year-old suffered a fracture during the Arc and never ran again, after attempts made to resurrect his racing career were abandoned.

He won on his only start as a juvenile, over a mile, and missed his three-year-old campaign. He was clearly worth persevering with, as he took all four starts at four, from 1m to 1m3f, and was duly stepped up to pattern company the following season.

His fee will be announced next week.
