Youmzain colt leads way on Arqana day three

TRIPLE Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner-up Youmzain’s first crop son out of Touch of Silk proved one of the more popular lots on the third day of Arqana’s December Sale on Monday when selling to €34,000 to Horse France.

Bought on behalf of a syndicate, the April-born colt was consigned by Neustrian Associates. He comes from the family of dual Grade 1 winner Life At The Top and her legacy that includes Cutlass Bay and this year’s Spinaway Stakes winner Grace Hall.

A pair at €31,000 had provided the early highlights on a more subdued day, the first going the way of Kevin Needham’s Fernham Farm when he signed for a Lawman colt foal.

Offered from Haras de Clairefontaine, the May foal is a half-brother to Group 3 victor Poltava, and is now set to be re-sold as a yearling.

Later on it was the Ronald Rauscher offering Djoua, who will be heading to Spain after being purchased by Stamina Turf International on behalf of Ulzama Stud in Northern Spain.

Due to Samum, the unraced Galileo mare has already produced four foals to date. She is a half-sister to German Group 3 winners Diamante and Divisa, the dam of this year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup runner up The Giant Bolster.
