Half-sister to Black Caviar to sell next April

AFTER the news earlier this week that the brother to the seven-time Group 1 winner So You Think is to be catalogued in the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, ithas been announced that the Redoute's Choice half-sister to the brilliant filly Black Caviar will also be offered at next April's sale.

“Black Caviar, So You Think and Makybe Diva have recorded the highest international ratings by Australian-trained gallopers in the modern era, so to have siblings to all three confirmed to Easter is a great endorsement of the sale,” said Inglis's managing director Mark Webster.

Inglis Melbourne auctioneer Simon Vivian inspected the Redoute's Choice filly at Gilgai Farm.

“She is quite a scopey filly, well balanced and particularly athletic, which is a trait that all buyers look for,” Vivian said. “She will continue to develop over the coming months and I expect her to be a star yearling come Easter."

She is the fourth foal out of the well-related Desert Sun mare Helsinge, a daughter of crack sprinting mare Scandinavia, who has also produced Group 1 winner Magnus and Group 2 winner Wilander. Her yearling of this year, a colt by Casino Prince, made A$1 million at this year's Easter sale.  Apparently, this filly is likely to be the only female sibling to be offered at auction by Gilgai Farm.

Black Caviar is unbeaten in 13 starts, the last six being at Group 1 level, and she is now the world's highest-rated sprinter. The Peter Moody-trained filly is likely to remain in Australia for the rest of the year, taking in the Sydney and Melbourne carnivals, before heading to Royal Ascot next June.

The 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held at Newmarket, Sydney from Tuesday April 10 to Thursday April 12 next year.
