First foal out of La Cucaracha scores at Bath

YASMEENA, the first foal out of Nunthorpe Stakes heroine La Cucaracha, got off the mark at the second time of asking at Bath on Friday when winning the 5f maiden by a length-and-three-quarters.

Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Estates purchased Yasmeena, a daughter of Mr Greeley,for $330,000 at last year's Keeneland September Sale from Denali Stud as agent. She was sent to Barry Hills, who trained La Cucaracha to win seven races led by the 2005 Nunthorpe Stakes, in which she became the first European Group 1 winner for her sire,Piccolo.

She was later sold by her owner and breeder, Guy Reed, for 525,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale to James Delahooke on behalf of the US-based Colts Neck Stable.

La Cucaracha has a yearling colt by Distorted Humor.
