Xanadou another classy performer for Peintre

Chantilly: Prix Paul de Moussac (Group 3), 1m, 3yo

XANADOU (c Peintre Celebre - Doohulla by Stravinsky)

Bred by Yeguada Milagro in Ireland

PEINTRE Celebre, the brilliant Arc winner of 1997, has been a fine servant to breeders over the years, producing 12 Group 1 winners led by Byword and Pride, and he looks to have sired another potentially top-class performer in Xanadou.

Saturday's Prix Paul de Moussac winner is the 35th Group/Graded stakes winner sired by Peintre Celebre, a son of Nureyev who stands at Coolmore for €12,500.

A 30,000gns purchase out of Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale by Royal Amber Bloodstock, Xanadou is a half-brother to minor Spanish winner Clunia and the third foal out of Doohulla, who ran third for Gerard Butler in the 2003 Listed Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes. She is a three-parts sister to the Listed-placed pair Zapata Beauty and Viva Nureyev and out of the 1989 Group 2 Prix du Gros Chene heroine Viva Zapata.

Xanadou owns an interesting pedigree in that he is inbred 2x3 to Nureyev, inbreeding which is also seen in the background of German Oaks heroine Silvester Lady and Regal Parade.

Doohulla has a two-year-old filly by Kheleyf named Lolita Pluma and a yearling filly by Sakhee.
