Dam of Snow Fairy in Keeneland November
THE dam of this season’s Epsom and Irish Oaks heroine Snow Fairy has been catalogued to sell at Book 1 of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
Woodland Dream, an eight-year-old daughter of Charnwood Forest, is set to be offered by Paramount Sales believedin-foal, having been mated with Giant’s Causeway and Kingmambo’s brother Kitalpha in the spring.
The mare could be a valuable commodity, as Snow Fairy is her first foal and she hails from a strong family for her owner-breeder Windflower Overseas Holdings. She is a half-sister to Group 3 winner and promising sire Big Bad Bob.
Other notable entries in Book 1 of the Keeneland November sale with a European connection include this month's Flower BowlInvitational Stakes winner Ave, a Plantation Stud-bred daughter of Danehill Dancer who was a Group 3 winner for Sir Michael Stoute before transferring stateside.
Also last season’s Sandringham Handicap winner and Nassau Stakes third Moneycantbuymelove, offered in foal to Smart Strike; and Caribbean Sunset, who has finished placed in top-flight races on both sides of the Atlantic and was sold at this sale two years ago for $1.25m.
Grade 1 winners Desert Stormer, Oh What A Windfall, Society Selection and You are also among those in the catalogue, along with the dams of Grade 1 winners Bustin Stones, Evita Argentina, Franny Freud, Majesticperfection, Persistently, Presious Passion – and, most notably, this year’s Classic scorers Blind Luck and Drosselmeyer.
Pivotal’s Preis der Diana-winning daughter Silvester Lady is among those catalogued to come under the hammer in Book 2 of the sale.
Da’Tara, winner of the 2008 Belmont Stakes in which Big Brown flopped in his attempt to land the Triple Crown, will be offered as a racing or stallion prospect in Book 5 of the sale.
The Keeneland November breeding stock sale, which also includes foals, takes place in Kentucky from November 8 to 20. The catalogue is available to view at keeneland.com.
