Danseuse Du Soir retired from breeding aged 23

POULE d'Essai des Pouliches winner Danseuse Du Soir has been retired from breeding duties at Woodcote Stud in Surrey at the age of 23.

Danseuse Du Soir, a daughter of Thatching, was bred by Woodcote out of the Northfields mare Dance By Night.

She hit the heights on the track and at stud. Trained by Elie Lellouche for Daniel Wildenstein, she beat Sha Tha to win the Pouliches and later that season doubled her Group 1 tally by seeing off Itsabrahma and Osario in the Prix de la Foret.

After making a disappointing start to her stud career, Danseuse Du Soir was brought back into the Woodcote fold when bought at Keeneland for $20,000.

For Woodcote she has produced the redoubtable Jumbajukiba, a Barathea gelding who won four Group 3 raced over 7f-1m at the Curragh, and Group 1 Gran Criterium scorer Scintillo, a son of Fantastic Light now at stud in Australia.

Woodcote Stud races Danseuse Du Soir's juvenile filly by Authorized, Authora, who was an encouraging fourth on her second run at Newbury this month.

The operation offers the mare's final colt, by Duke Of Marmalade, at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. She produced a Champs Elysees filly this year.
