Bodemeister stud fee at $30,000 by WinStar

WINSTAR Farm in Kentucky has set an introductory fee of $30,000 for its new recruit Bodemiester, winner of this year's Grade 1 Arkansas Derby and runner-up in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

Bodemeister is a son of Empire Maker out of the Grade 1-placed Storm Cat mare Untouched Talent.

WinStar's other newcomer for 2013, Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes hero Tiznow, will command a fee of $15,000. The son of Tiznow is out of the Mr Prospector mare Crystal Shard.

The 2013 fee for WinStar's most expensive stallion, Distorted Humor, has been left unchanged from this year at $100,000.
Distorted Humor, a son of Forty Niner, took his tally of Grade 1 winners to 12 when Aesop's Fables won the Prix Jean Prat this year.

Two WinStar stallions have received fee increases next year: Speightstown, currently recovering from colic surgery, goes from $50,000 to $60,000, while Harlan's Holiday has been raised from $25,000 to $35,000.

Speightstown is the sire of this year's Grade 1 winners Golden Ticket and Poseidon's Warrior, while Harlan's Holiday was represented by Saturday's Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Shanghai Bobby.

WinStar Farm is about to open a new state-of-the-art 18-stall stallion complex that is set to debut in 2013 and serve as home for all WinStar stallions.

WinStar predient Elliott Walden said: "We couldn't be more proud of the WinStar stallions and their continued success across the board, both on the racetrack and in the sales ring.

"We're thrilled to be just a couple of months away from opening our new state-of-the-art stallion facility, and do so while bringing in exciting new stallions such as Bodemeister and Gemologist to compliment our accomplished existing roster. These are exciting times, and the future is bright at WinStar."
