WinStar Farm releases 2012 covering fees

WINSTAR Farm in Kentucky has announced 2012 fees for its expanded roster of stallions.

Distored Humor, sire of Breeders' Cup Classic hero Drosselmeyer, remains the stud's most expensive sire at $100,000. He will cover a limited book of 100 mares in 2012.

Bellamy Road, whose first three-year-olds included Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes winner Toby's Corner, has had his fee doubled from $10,000 to $20,000.

WinStar's new recruit Sidney's Candy will stand his first season in 2012 for a fee of $15,000 stands and nurses.

"We couldn't be more proud of the WinStar stallions and the success enjoyed across the board in 2011," said WinStar president Elliott Walden.

"We set out with the goal of growing our 2012 roster with promising young stallions that give breeders a range of quality options. And despite the popularity of many of our stallions, we will continue to be sensitive to the economics of the game, and to our breeders who depend on our product to make a profit.

"Therefore, we have chosen to leave all but Bellamy Road the same for 2012, and we're excited to get to work on serving our breeders again for the upcoming season."
