Distorted Humor gets further price cut

THROUGH mid-November it was Lane's End Farm, now Winstar Farm has revised a stallion fee for 2009.

Having originally set a fee of $225,000 for 2009 for its leading sire Distorted Humur, a reduction from 2008's fee of $300,000, after further consideration the farm has further moved the sire's fee downwards, this time by a massive $75,000 (33 per cent) to $150,00 meaning that he will stand through 2009 at half his 2008 price.

"WinStar is a long-term player and we have always believed in adjusting to market conditions to facilitate our shareholders, fellow breeders and WinStar Farm'soverall success," said Doug Cauthen, WinStar Farm's president. "Distorted Humor is the number one covering sire in the nation with an average of $1,833,333. Our objective with this move is to maintain his position at the top."

Distorted Humor's best progeny include Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide, Any Given Saturday and Grade 1 winner and Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic fifth Hystericalady.

No further price cuts have been announced for the farm's otherstallions which include Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Speightstown and consecutive Breeders' Cup Classic winner Tiznow.
