Rip Van Winkle: will accompany Mastercraftsman to New Zealand this year

Fee set for Rip VanWinkle in New Zealand

COOLMORE'S new recruit Rip Van Winkle will stand at a fee of NZ$25,000 (£12,130, €13,760) in his first season shuttling to New Zealand this year.

The best son of champion sire Galileo by Racing Post Ratings will stand the southern-hemisphere season at Windsor Park Stud.

Rip Van Winkle, winner of the Sussex, Queen Elizabeth II and International Stakes, has covered the dams of Group 1 winners Allegretto, Ask For The Moon and Rumplestiltskin in his first season at Coolmore in County Tipperary this year.

Rip Van Winkle will make the journey to Windsor Park Stud with Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes hero Mastercraftsman and Criterium International winner Thewayyouare.

Mastercraftsman's fee has been reduced slightly from NZ$25,000 last year to NZ$22,500 (£10,900, €12,400). Thewayyouare will command a fee of NZ$9,000 (£4,370, €4,960).

Windsor Park resident Thorn Park, who is New Zealand's champion sire elect atthe end of a season in which he supplied domestic Group 1 winners Jimmy Choux, The Party Stand and Veyron, will stand at a fee of NZ$20,000 (£9,700, €11,000).

Windsor Park's 2011 roster is rounded out by Group 1 sire Volksraad at NZ$17,500 (£8,500, €9,600); Montjeu's son Guillotine at NZ$7,000 (£3,400, €3,850); and Tale Of The Cat sire Falkirk at NZ$6,500 (£3,150, €3,580).
