Windfields story approaches final chapter

THE final chapter in the story of one of the most successful breeding establishments is set to be completed in March, when a liquidation auction takes place at Windfields Farm in Oshawa, Canada.

The stud, founded by businessman E.P Taylor, secured itself a prominent place in the history of the thoroughbred as the birthplace of immensely influential stallion Northern Dancer and as breeder of Nijinsky and The Minstrel.

Windfields' last president, Taylor's daughter Judith Taylor Mappin, decided last year to wind down the operation, and its bloodstock interests were dispersed at the North American breeding stock sales.

Paraphernalia from the farm, including tractors, trucks, lawnmowers, farm and equine equipment, are expected to be sold at the auction, which takes place at the stud on March 6. All items will be sold without reserve.
