Death of former Windfields manager

PETER E. Poole, who was general manager at E.P. Taylor's Windfields Farm during the era of Northern Dancer, died on Sunday in Ontario, Canada, at the age of 89.

Poole worked for Windfields Farm for 36 years, starting in 1950. He became general manager in 1968, the year that Northern Dancer's first runners hit the track. He retired from his post in 1986.

During Poole's time at Windfields Farm, Taylor bred 34 champions, among thm Nijinsky, The Minstrel, Try My Best, El Gran Senor, Storm Bird, Shareef Dancer and Glorious Song.
