Wildenstein mare tops Arqana February Sale
DUAL-purpose Listed winner Nickelle proved to be the highlight of Arqana's February Sale on Monday, when making €85,000 to Thierry Delegue's Yes Agency.
Offered as part of 11 lots from Sylvia Wildenstein's dispersal by Haras de Victot, undeniably the high spot of the auction, the nine year old was bought for an undisclosed client.
Successful in the Listed Prix Wild Monarch on her hurdles debut for Jean-Paul Gallorini as a three year old by 10 lengths, the daughter of Sagamix then took the Prix de la Pepiniere at Longchamp a year later for her connections.
Out of Group 1 winning hurdler N'Avoue Jamais, who sold for €48,000 to Eclipse Bloodstock, Nickelle hails from the family of Nickname and No Risk At All. The mare's pedigree received a further update last month as her half-sister N'Oublie Jamais took the Listed Grande Course de Haies de Cagnes.
Already the dam of two foals, the nine-year-old was not covered in 2011 due to problems arising after Wildenstein's death the previous November. Both of these also passed through the ring, with her three year old Chichicastenango filly Natsuke making €55,000 to James Delahooke on behalf of Dominic Burke, breeder of Champion Hurdle winner Katchit.
