Golden Slipper winner Sebring retired to stud

LAST season's Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Sebring has been officially retired to Widden Stud in New South Wales, Australia following a re-occurring soundness issue.

The problem was discovered when connections decided to send Sebring for a veterinary examination on Tuesday after the three-year-old son of More Than Ready turned in a sub-standard work.

Sebring dominated the two-year-old scene in Australia last year, taking five of six starts and over A$2.5m in prize-money. As well as the Golden Slipper, the colt was also successful in the Group 1 AJC Sires' Produce Stakes and just missed out by a head to Miss Samantha in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes.

Out the placed Flying Spur mare Purespeed, Sebring is from the family of Group 2 winner Surtee.
