'What's not to like' about $405,000 Alpha Kitten?
Grade 2 winner Alpha Kitten fetched the second-highest price of Tuesday's session of Keeneland January horses of all ages auction when she sold to B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm for $405,000. She has been retired from racing but no breeding planshave been decided.
“What's not to like,” asked Spendthrift’s general manager Ned Toffey. “She is a very pretty mare with a lot of ability and plenty of pedigree. It was kind of a no-brainer."
The five-year-old Tale of the Cat mare was offered by Paramount Sales, agent. Alpha Kitten is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Alpha Mama, who is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Marylebone.
