Whale Capture: the daughter of Kurofune wins a Group 2 after placed efforts in the Japanese Oaks and Japanese 1,000 Guineas



Daughter of a Japanese dirt legend wins Group 2

WHALE CAPTURE, who finished third in the Yushun Himba (the Japanese Oaks) and secondin the Oka Sho (the Japanese 1,000 Guineas) earlier this year, deservedly got her head in front when taking the Group 2 Kansai Telecasting Corp. Sho. Rose Stakes at Hanshin.

The filly a Group 3 winner in February is a daughter of Kurofune, who has been described as a "dirt legend" in Japan.

He stands at Shadai Stallion station, alongside his sire French Deputy.  As a racehorse, Kurofune set a new course record in Japan over a mile on  just his second start. In his first start he equalled the track record.

Kurofune went on to win the Group 1 Japanese Dirt Cup and the Group 1 NHK Mile Cup. He is a leading performer by French Deputy.

He is currently third in the Japanese general sires' title. Whale Capture is his leading performer - she is out of Global Peace a daughter of Sunday Silence.
