Weapon's outguns RSA rivals for Presenting

WEAPON'S AMNESTY, who is by the reigning champion jumps sire and out of a mare by the stallion whose crown he swiped, won the Grade 1 RSA Chase to supplement his victory in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at last year's Cheltenham Festival.

Seven-year-old Weapon's Amnesty is by Presenting, Glenview Stud's son of Mtoto who holds an enviable Festival record, having sired Gold Cup winners Denman and War Of Attrition and Champion Bumper hero Dunguib.

Presenting, who won the Geoffrey Freer Stakes and ran third in Lammtarra's Derby, was, like Oscar, sire of Peddlers Cross, bred by George Strawbridge.

Weapon's Amnesty was bred by Aaron Metcalfe out of Victoria Theatre, a mare by Old Vic, who was leading jumps sire in the 2007-08 season. Old Vic's best jumps progeny include Gold Cup winner Kicking King, Grand National scorer Comply Or Die and evergreen chaser Our Vic.

Weapon's Amnesty's first visit to a sale ring was as a foal in 2003, when he was sold to Graigue Farm at Tattersalls Ireland for €11,500.

Graigue Farm resold him for a profit at Doncaster in 2006, to Margaret O'Toole for 24,000gns. O'Toole was also registered as the buyer when he went back through the ring at Cheltenham in December that year, this time costing the agent 74,000gns.
