Pricey colt out
of Saoire off the mark

REQUISITION, the dearest colt sold at last year's Goffs Orby Sale at €550,000, made it third time lucky for the Ballydoyle team on Monday when holding off Fatcatinthehat (Authorized) to win the 1m 1/2f maiden at Galway.

The son of Invincible Spirit, who wasbred by J. Joyce and purchased by Demi O'Byrne, is the second foal and winner out of 2005 Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Saoire following the Giant's Causeway filly Pink Diva.

Saoire, a daughter of Pivotal, was memorably snapped up for abargain 4,000gns by Larry Stratton as a foal and resold to Martin Cullinane for €65,000 at Tattersalls Ireland the following year. She is a three-parts sister to the Listed-placed Awinnersgame and from the further family of Listed winner Lady Eileen.

A full brother to Requisition will be offered as lot 282 by Cahermorris Stables at the Goffs Orby Sale.
