Winner for first-season Coolmore sire Oratorio

FIRST-SEASON sire Oratorio got off the mark at Navan on Sunday when the Ger Lyons-trained colt Wealdmore Wave got up to take the 5f race.

Although looking beaten two furlongs from home, and held tight on the rail, he battled back in the last half-furlong to win by a short-head in a bobbing finish with the Red Ransom colt Red Rebellion.

Wealdmore Wave, the only runner so far for his sire and bred by Pier House Stud, was bought for €120,000 by agent Bobby O'Ryan at the Goffs Million sale.  He is a half-brother to last season's Prix Marcel Boussac runner-up and winner of April's Prix Imprudence, Elusive Wave.
