Wiesenpfad to stand at north German stud

WIESENPFAD, the highest rated runner sired by Premio Vittorio di Capua winner Waky Nao, will be retired to stand at Gestüt Trona in north Germany at the end of the season.

The six-year-old, trained by Waldemar Hickst for owner Heide Harzheim, has won nine of his 19 starts. He has scored in six Group 3 events, including on his most recent start in August, when he triumphed in the Preis der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe over 1m2f at Baden-Baden.

Gestüt Ravensberg bred Wiesenpfad out of the 10-year-old Mark Of Esteem mare Waldbeere, a daughter of German St Leger heroine Wurftaube and a sister to Falmouth Stakes runner-up Waldmark.

The Group 1 Premio Roma at the Cappanelle or the Group 3 Hessen-Pokal at Frankfurt could see him attempt tosign off his racing career in style.

Wiesenpfad joins Electric Beat, a Group 2-winning sprinter from the family of Paco Boy whose first foals were born this year, and Monsun's Group 1-placed son Noroit on the Trona stallion roster.

Waky Nao, a 16-year-old son of Alzao from the family of New Approach, currently stands at Bert House Stud in County Kildare. His first Irish-bred offspring are three-year-olds this year.
