Lahan half-sister
wins at Great Leighs

WAJAHA, a three-quarters sister of Lahan, who won the 1,000 Guineas in 2000, drew away from the field for an impressivevictory in the 1m maiden for two-year-old fillies at Great Leighs on Wednesday.

She is out of the Mr Prospector mare Amanah and by first-season sire Haafhd, whose paternal grandsire Unfuwain sired Lahan.

Like her sister Lahan, Wajaha was bred by Shadwell, owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum and trained by John Gosden.

Amanah, a daughter of Mr Prospector and the dual Grade 1 winner Cheval Volant, won one of her five career starts.  Her half-sister Alhufoof produced this year's Molecomb Stakes winner and Dewhurst Stakes third, Finjaan.

Wajaha is 2,000 Guineas and Champion Stakes winner Haafhd's 11th individual winner.
