Paul Nicholls: trains Minella Stars

The six-year-old Accordion gelding was bought by Highflyer Bloodstock on behalf of Mrs Johnny de le Hey at last year's Brightwells Cheltenham April National Hunt Sale.

Minella Stars provided a handsome profit for previous owner John Nallen, who had bought him as a foal for €10,500 at Tattersalls Ireland in November 2005 before sending him pointing with trainer Trevor Horgan.

Horgan prepped the horse to win between the sticks at Ballydarragh and Lemonfield in the months leading up to his engagement in the Brightwells sale ring.

Minella Stars is now trained by Paul Nicholls, who knows the family well, having trained the dam V'Soske Gale's brother Bluagale to win five races.

Minella Stars' breeder Michael Dixon has also bred out of V'Soske Gale a five-year-old brother and a four-year-old sister to the horse, as well as a three-year-old colt by Royal Anthem and a two-year-old filly by Germany.
