Villez influence alive

Saturday: Ascot Chase (Grade 1) 2m5f, Ascot.

VOY POR USTEDES (g Villez - Nuit d'Ecajeul)

A SUPERB round of jumping saw Voy Por Ustedes resume winning ways in impressive style and in the process set himself up for a crack at the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Alan King-trained jumper has played a prominant part in bringing his former French-based sire, Villez, to the fore in the Britain. The deceased son of Lyphard's Wish, who won at Maisons-Laffitte for the Wildenstein family prior to taking ten races over jumps, has also been represented by the likes of last season's World Hurdle third Kazal and Paul Nicholls' talented chaser Le Duc.

Voy Por Ustedes dam, Nuit d'Ecajeul, won once on the Flat in France and has been agrand servant for Guillaume Macaire and Frances Picoulet, breeding five winners. As well as Voy Por Ustedes, the daughter of Matahawk is also responsible for the smart French jumpers Le Pero (Perrault) and En La Cruz (Robin Des Champs), both of whom havebeen placed in Listed company at Auteuil.
