Vinery's American division up for sale

PROMINENT American operation Vinery is to be sold, according to a release made by farm president Tom Ludt on behalf of owner Dr Tom Simon.

Simon has decided to place the operation - which comprises properties in Kentucky and Florida - on the market after meetings with his family and taking into account their plans and interests.

The properties include state-of-the art stallion, broodmare, boarding, rehabilitation and sales prep facilities. The Kentucky arm is home to seven stallions including the highly successful pair Congrats and More Than Ready and young Grade 1 winner Pioneerof Thenile. Vinery's Florida division houses five stallions while another five, including the proven pair Bluegrass Cat and Posse, are housed in New York.

The Vinery operation also includes a farm in Australia, which is home to ten stallions. A majority interest in that farm was sold in 2005.

Simon purchased the Kentucky farm in 1999 before expanding into Florida and New York. The New York arm comprises two leased properties, Empire Stud and Sugar Maple Farm.
