Leading US freshman Congrats to Kentucky

CONGRATS, the leading first-season sire in North America by number of winners and progeny earnings, will switch from Vinery Florida to the operation's Kentucky base for 2011.

His fee for next year has rocketed to $15,000, from $4,500 in 2010, which in turn was down from $12,500 in his first season at stud.

According to Bloodhorse statistics, Congrats' progeny have earned $1,151,758 in prize-money, headed by Grade 1 Alcibiades Stakes winner Wickedly Perfect, as well as Alcibiades third Jordy Y and Champagne Stakes third I'm Steppin' It Up.

Grade 2 winner Congratsis by A. P. Indy and out of the Mr Prospector mare Praise - the same cross of sire and damsire that produced A P Arrow, Mineshaft, Tempera and Tomisue's Delight.

Praise is out of Grade 2 Diana Handicap winner Wild Applause, a half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero.

Vinery president Tom Ludt said: "He's at the head of his class by winners, repeat winners and earnings, and, as Wickedly Perfect made apparent, he's certainly capable of siring quality."
