THE Racing Post Yearling Bonus Scheme committee has compiled a preliminary list of two-year old-maiden races that will carry a £10,000 bonus in 2010.

A £10,000 bonus has been attached to a total of 150 two-year-old races in Britain starting with a 5f fillies' maiden at Lingfield on March 29. A 5f maiden at the Curragh on March 21 represents the first chance to land the first of 45 £10,000 bonuses in Ireland.

Each bonus will be paid out in addition to race prize-money. No deductions will be made.

A significant number of additional maidens will also be selected throughout the season as some of those listed to the left could be won by ineligible horses. In addition, another ten per cent of the British and Irish allocation will attached to three-year-old maidens in the first half of 2011.

Scheme chairman, John Osborne said: "We have split the bonuses as fairly as possible based proportionately over distances, categories and racecourses in the hope that all kinds of horses get a shot at winning a £10,000 bonus. The main aim of the scheme is to encourage purchasers to keep coming back to the sales in Britain and Ireland and yet have a chance to recoup some of the costs."

The deadline for owners to keep their yearlings eligible for the scheme is fast approaching on December 15. Thanks to the huge support of vendors, over 4,200 yearlings were nominated at the initial stage, meaning that a total prize fund of £2.5mis expected.

Owners wishing to keep their yearling eligible should download the owner registration form available above and either instruct Weatherbys UK to deduct £250/€285 per yearling from their Weatherbys bank account or complete the electronic transfer of funds/send a cheque.
