Zenyatta: outstanding mare has a new half-sister by Henrythenavigator

Zenyatta half-sister born in Kentucky

VERTIGINEUX, the dam of history-making American racemare Zenyatta, produced a foal by 2,000 Guineas winner Henrythenavigator earlier this month.

The new arrival is a filly and was born on March 4. Her breeders are registered as Orpendale, Chelston and Wynatt.

A 15-year-old daughter of Kris S, Vertigineux has produced triple Grade 1 winner Balance by Thunder Gulch and the unbeaten first female Breeders' Cup Classic winner Zenyatta – who opened her account for2010 with a convincing win in the Grade 1 Santa Margartita Invitational Handicap earlier this month – by Street Cry.

Vertigineux also has a three-year-old colt by Giant's Causeway named Souper Spectacular and a yearling filly by Bernardini.

The first book of mares for Henrythenavigator, who stands at Coolmore's Ashford Stud in Kentucky, also included Rags To Riches and the dams of Kentucky Derby winners Big Brown and Smarty Jones.
