Silver Frost retired to Haras de la Hetraie

FRENCH 2,000 Guineas winner Silver Frost has been retired to the Haras de la Hetraie in north west France where he will stand for a fee of €6,000 live foal.

Agent Ghislain Bozo, who handled the deal, said: "He has been purchased by a syndicate of breeders from France, the UK and Ireland and they are all going to support him long-term, which is good news."

Trained by Yves de Nicolay for owner John-Dawson Cotton, the son of Verglas' finest hour came when taking the Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Longchamp last season.

After debuting early as a two year old, Silver Frost went on to take a pair of Group 3 events before ending his juvenile year when third in the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud.

Last season saw him unbeaten in his first three outings, which also included the Prix de Fontainebleau besides his victory in the Poulains. Silver Frost was then tried over further in the Prix du Jockey Club where he failed to stay the distance.

It was initially announced that Silver Frost had been retired to stud after picking up an injury in the Prix Jacques Le Marois last August, however the four year old returned to training this year, finishing third in the Prix Messidor.
