Irish National alter original 2009 fees

IN light of the current economic downturn, the Irish National Stud has reduced their 2009 fees from their original listings, which were announced last month.

Elusive City, this season's leading first crop sire by earnings, is the only stallion on the roster to remain unchanged. He will stand at his original fee of €12,500.

However, the stud's flagship stallion, Invincible Spirit, has had his fee reduced from €60,000 to €50,000 while Verglas drops from €12,500 to €10,000.

Both Amadeus Wolf and Jeremy will stand for €8,000, down from €10,000. Indian Haven has been reduced from €7,000 to€6,500, the same figure he commanded in 2007. Rakti's fee has suffered a minimal drop of €1,000 to €5,000 while Celtic Swing will cover at €4,000, down from €6,000.

"The foal market is down over 40 per cent from last year and we feel a responsibility towards breeders to further reduce our 2009 fees," said Julie Lynch, stallion nominations manager of the Irish National Stud.
