First Group winner for late freshman Red Clubs

LATE first-season sire Red Clubs was represented by his first Pattern-race winner when his son Vedelago landed the Group 3 Premio Primi Passi over 6f at San Siro in Milan on Sunday.

Vedelago - winner of the Listed Premio Parenti di Roma last time out - beat the Sakhee colt Salure into second, with Strategic Game by Choisir in third.

Luigi Polito-trained Vedelago is a homebred for GTA Srl. He is out of the Listed-placed Marju mare Queen Shy, a sister to Group 2 Premio Ellington runner-up Toto Le Moko.

Queen Shy is in turn out of Listed Ballymacoll Stakes winner Shyoushka.

Red Clubs, a son of Red Ransom, won the Coventry Stakes and Haydock Sprint Cup.

He stood his first season for €12,500 at Tally-Ho Stud and last year covered at €6,500. He died this year. There are 113 two-year-olds in his first crop.
