Baden-Baden racing and sales clash avoided

THE clash between Germany's premier yearling auction at Baden-Baden and racing at nearby Iffezheim racecourse in September appears to have been avoided.

Baden Racing, the new management company at Iffezheim racourse, announced last month that, due to the loss of its spring meeting, an extra day's racing at the course would be held on Saturday, September 4 – at the same time as selling would be underway on the second and final day of the BBAG yearling auction.

The latest edition of German newsletter Turf-TImes says that Baden Racing and BBAG have now agreed to leave thatSaturday racing-free.

However, it also says that it is not impossible that racing at Iffezheim on Friday, September 3, will start later than usual, which would impinge on the first day's selling at the auction.

Classic winner in Spring catalogue
Meanwhile, supplementary entries for the BBAG spring sale on Friday, June 4, are available to view on the company's website.

The 13 additions to the catalogue are headed by Valdino, a son of Black Sam Bellamy who was an easy winner of the 2008 Deutsches St Leger, and include an Encosta De Lago juvenile half-sister to Grade 2 winner Ferneley, consigned by Con Marnane's Bansha House Stables.
