Putsch pays €525,000 for Celebre Vadala

Andreas Putsch has compiled a formidable broodmare band at his Haras du Saint Pair in Normandy and he added to it again on Sunday afternoon at Arqana when purchasing the Listed winner Celebre Vadala from the Aga Khan Studs for €525,000.

Out of the Listed-winning Vadlamixa, the daughter of Peintre Celebre is a half-sister to Queen Anne Stakes winner Valixir and Vadaza, dam of Prix Saint-Alary heroine Vadawina. She was sold in foal to Selkirk.

"I came here just to buy this one mare," said Putsch. "It is difficult to buy into these families and she had a good race record. Plus she's in foal to Selkirk, whom I like."

Boutin finally lands Vadazing
One lot earlier, another member of Vadlamixa's tribe lit up the ring when Patricia Boutin of Suprina spent €260,000 to secure Vadazing, a half-sister to Vadawina.

The five-year-old daughter of Spinning World was offered in foal to Dansili by Haras du Mezeray on behalf of Mayfair Stud, who purchased the mare for €360,000 from the Aga Khan Studs at this sale two years ago.

"I tried to buy this mare two years ago but was unsuccessful," said Boutin, who was bidding on behalf of a partnership which included Lady O'Reilly. "I've followed her since then and today finally got her. She will definitely stay in France.

"I know the family very well because my father used to train for Jean-Luc Largardere. I don't mind Spinning World as a sire and obviously the Dansili covering didn't dampen my enthusiasm for her."
