US sire Eddington
gets first winner

FIRST-CROP US sire Eddington had his first winner this afternoon when Silenceofthewind won the opening 6f maiden at Newcastle.

It was the second start for the Karl Burke-trained colt, and he is the Claiborne Farm sire's only European runner so far. He has only had two runners in the US.

By Unbridled, Eddington is out of the Chief's Crown mare Fashion Star. He won the Grade 1 Pimlico Special, beating Pollard's Vision, Funny Cide and Presidential Affair, and finished third in the Grade 1 events – the Preakness, the Wood Memorial, the Donn Stakes and the Travers Stakes. He ran 17 times and won six races.

His first crop was produced off a fee of $20,000 and he stood at $15,000 this spring.
