US wrap: Acclamation strikes again - kind of!

ACCLAMATION continued to grab the weekend stakes race headlines, only this time it was a Grade 1 US winner, rather than the Rathbarry stallion who pulled off a major Saturday Ascot double with the juveniles Angels Will Fall and Talwar.

The US Acclamation landedthe Grade 1 Eddie Read Handicap on the Del Mar Turf for his sire Unusual Heat, a California-based son of Nureyev who was originally trained by Dermot Weld in Ireland.

Acclamation is the only winner from his unraced dam Winning In Style  ,who is a half-sister to Grade 3 San Vincente Stakes winner Stylish Winner, from a family that also features Impressive Style, winner of the Del Mar Debutante Stakes.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed's purchase of Stonerside Stables yielded further success when It's Tricky landed a second Grade 1 on the bounce in the TVG Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga.

Out of the Stonerside raced and bred Catboat, winner of the Grade 3 Arlington Oaks, It's Tricky provided a third Gr 1 win this season for her sire Mineshaft. The Lane's End based son of AP Indy is also sire of Florida Derby winner Dialed In, as well as Kentucky Derby runner-up Nehro.
