Grade 2 winner Rockport Harbor off the mark

DARLEY'S popular young Kentucky-based sire Rockport Harbor was represented by his first winner when Parvenue landed a $41,000 maiden special weight at Philadelphia Park on Sunday.

Trained by John Servis, who bred the filly in partnership with Patricia Chapman in Kentucky, Parvenue overcame a tardy start to get up in the final strides of the 4 1/2 furlong dirt contest. She is out of the stakes-placed Last Toots, a daughter of Concern.

It is only fitting that Servis should train the stallion's first winneras he also trained Rockport Harbor to win five races including the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes as a two-year-old. However, injury prevented the son of Unbridled's Song from fulfilling his potential and he was retired from racing midway through his four-year-old season.

Rockport Harbor stood his first season at Darley at Jonabell in Kentucky for $20,000 and has 118 two-year-olds to run for him this year, 16 of whom have hit the track.

He stood the past season in Kentucky for $12,500.
