Hunter's Light retired
to stud following injury
UAE: Hunter's Light will not run in the Group 1 Dubai Turf at Meydan on World Cup night next Saturday and has been retired to stud.
The Saeed Bin Suroor-trained seven-year-old was a fantastic performer at the carnival, winning five times, and had won all three of his starts at this year's meeting.
His last victory was a six-and-a-half-length romp in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta. He was set to run next in the Dubai Turf on March 28.
However he sustained a tendon injury on his last run and failed to respond to treatment.
Hunter's Light won 12 times from 27 starts, with 11 of those victories at Pattern level, including three Group 1s.
Joao Moreira, who captured the two Group 1 sprints on World Cup night 12 months ago, will ride the Marco Botti-trained Euro Charline in the Dubai Turf.
Newmarket trainer Botti had hoped to secure the services of Ryan Moore, but he is on The Grey Gatsby for Kevin Ryan so Brazilian Moreira - known in Hong Kong where he is based as 'Magic Man' - will partner the Team Valor-owned filly.
