Two-year-old Approve to stand at stud next year

GIMCRACK STAKES winner Approve will retire to stand as a stallion next year at the Morristown Lattin Stud in Ireland.

He is the second juvenile bought this year forstallion duties following Zebedee - who heads to Tally-Ho Stud.

Morristown Lattin stands another horse who was retired to stud as a three-year-old in Dark Angel.

Winner of three of his nine starts, Approve is a sonof the sought-after Oasis Dream who cost his owners Highclere Thoroughbreds 65,000gns as a yearling.

After losing his maiden at the second time of asking at Salisbury, Approve went on to win the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes and the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes. He was also placed in the Group 1 Shadwell Middle Park Stakes and was twice Group 2 placed when campaigned by William Haggas.

Harry Herbert of Highclere Racing said: "Approve could not have given his 20 owners more fun - racing as he did some nine times. He showed awesome speed to win the Norfolk and as we saw in the Gimcrack he combined that with a tremendous will to win."
