Vinery stallion Congrats shuttles to Australia

CONGRATS, Vinery's 2010 champion first-crop sire in the US, will join its Australian success More Than Ready in shuttling to Vinery Australia for the 2011 southern hemisphere season.

He will be the second stakes-winning son of A.P. Indy to have stood in Australia after Bernardini, who was fourth in the freshman sires' table last year.

Originally standing at Vinery Florida, Congrats notched two Group 1winners, Turbulent Descent and Wickedly Perfect, in his first crop among a tally of 22 individual winners.

Vinery Stud general manager Peter Orton said: "Congrats was a Group 2 winner who started his stud career off in Florida sohe wasn't serving a particularly high standard of mares. For to him to be champion first-season sire with 15 stakes horses including two Group 1 winners is a remarkable performance.

"A.P. Indy has been one of the great sires in America for a good while and we have been keen to get one of his sons. Congrats is from the La Troienne line which we have done well out of with More Than Ready.

"It is a really well-balanced pedigree and we think it should work quite well down here. He is essentially an outcross -Vinery has always looked for an outcross and this one has been very successful already."
