Canford Cliffs: the dam of Alexander Goldrun among the first three mares scanned in foal to the brilliant miler

Trio of mares confirmed in foal to Canford Cliffs

RENASHAAN,the dam of five-time Group 1 winner Alexander Goldrun and French 2,000 Guineas runner-up Medecis, is among the first mares scanned in foal to the brilliant miler Canford Cliffs.

Two other mares have been confirmed in foal to the son of Tagula, namely Distant Skies, a Tiger Hill half-sister to Middle Park Stakes winner Primo Valentino owned by Dr Tom Purcell, and Awjila, a winning daughter of Oasis Dream owned by Jeremy Gompertz.

"Canford Cliffs is proving extremely popular with breeders," said Coolmore's Eddie Fitzpatrick. "Everyone that sees him likes him and his race record speaks for itself. It's always great to see the first few mares scanned in foal."

The six-length winner of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, Canford Cliffs developed into a top-class miler at three, taking the Irish 2,000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes and Sussex Stakes for Richard Hannon.

He returned at four to land the Lockinge Stakes and claim the scalp of Goldikova in the Queen Anne Stakes.

Canford Cliffs stands at Coolmore at a fee of €17,500.
