Toylsome half-sister breaks maiden in France

A HALF-SISTER to last year's shock Prix de la Foret winner Toylsome broke her maiden on her third career start at Deauville on Monday.

The two-year-old Diktat filly, named Playwithmyheart, was purchased as a foal for €18,000 by Eugene McDermott at Tattersalls. She was registered as a vendor buyback when offered as a yearling at Goffs, but found a new home when sold at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale to her current trainer Thierry Doumen for 25,000gns earlier this year.

Playwithmyheart is the fifth winner for her dam Treasure Trove, by The Minstrel. Her year-younger half-sister by Pastoral Pursuits was sold at Tattersalls last year for 5,000gns.

Earlier on the Deauville card, first-season sire American Post was represented by his seventh winner when his son American Mail broke his maiden at the fifth attempt.

American Post won the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and the Racing Post Trophy attwo, and the Poule d'Essai des Poulains at three. He stands at Haras d'Etreham at a fee of €7,000.
