Great Voltigeur Stakes: Thought Worthy (Dynaforner-Vignette by Diesis). Breeder George Strawbridge

ALTHOUGH there has been some debate about the appeal to Europeans of horses in the US markets, homebreds in that country are thriving with the first two Group winners at York on Tuesday fitting that bill.

After Dundonnell won the Acomb for his freshman sire First Defence, Thought Worthy took the Great Voltigeur for his late father Dynaformer, sire  of the ill-fated Kentucky Derby winner among others.

His best European horses include Lucarno - Thought Worthy's full-brother who likewise won the Great Voltigeur prior to winning the 2007 St Leger. Both are  owned and bred by George Strawbridge from a family that also features second dam Be Exclusive, a Group 3 winner in France.
