The Rock in line for notable jumps double
A RARE high-profile jumps double could come the way of prominent Flat stallion Rock Of Gibraltar this afternoon if Gimli's Rockcan overturn Dunguib in today's Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran Park.
Victory by the Jessica Harrington-trained gelding - a brother to Grade 3 winner Sweeter Still - would cap a notable 24 hours for Coolmore's Rock Of Gibraltar following the success of Recession Proof in the totesport Trophy at Newbury yesterday.
Gimli's Rock is an 8/1 shot to win the prestigious three runner event which has attracted Luska Lad (Flemensfirth) in addition to Dunguib (Presenting).
Another representative of the stallion, the former smart Flat performer Drill Sergeant, takes his chance in the Betfair Mobile Handicap Hurdle at Ascot.

The Ascot card could also see King's Theatre significantly extend his lead at the head of the jumps sires' list if Riverside Theatre is successful in the Betfair Ascot Chase, worth £84,495 to the winner. And the Ballylinch stallion could be in line for a further windfall at Haydock should King Fontaine fill the frame in the £75,000 totesport.com Grand National Trial.
Meanwhile, French-breds dominate the day's flagship event at Wincanton, the Bathwick Tyres Kingwell Hurdle. Favourite Mille Chief (Ski Chief), Silviniaco Conti (Dom Alco) and Ronaldo Des Mottes (Rifapour) bid to extend the successful run of French-breds in the major events this season although they face strong opposition from Overturn (Barathea), who was bred in Ireland by former trainer Peter Harris.
