Mehthaaf daughter scores at Chester

A DAUGHTER of 1994 Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Mehthaaf took the Residence At HQ Maiden Stakes over 1m2 1/2f at Chester on Wednesday.

The three-year-old filly, Thaahira, is by Dynaformer - also sire of champion juvenile filly of two seasons ago, Rainbow View - and is the ninth foal of he her dam.

Mehthaaf has produced several decent performers but none at the top-level, with Italian Group 2 winner Najah perhaps the best.

Trained by Michael Jarvis, Thaahira was fifth on her only prior start, in a 15-runner Salisbury maiden.

Another high-profile broodmare success was that of Rebecca Sharp, a winner of the Coronation Stakes at Ascot, whose foal Sir Pitt won at Southwell.

The three-year-old colt by Tiger Hill had already won a maiden at the Fibresand track.
