Long-term buyers boost second day of Tatts

THIS autumn's often testing round of yearling sales seemed a distant memory to many of the pinhookers who helped ensure a furious trade at yesterday's second instalment of Tattersalls' December Foal Sale.

Although figures fell just shy of last year's levels, many of those looking to trade were amazed by prices although it was long-term racing buyers who were responsible for the three six-figure lots in succession just before 7pm last night.

A Pivotal three-parts sister to Irish 1,000 Guineas runner-up Penkenna Princess was sold for 140,000 to Cheveley Park Stud's Chris Richardson, who saw off Willie Browne.

"She was a foal share so we bought our partner out and was a very athletic filly who has been bought to race. We have her Acclamation yearling half-sister with William Haggas and she has been broken and everything has gone right so far with her," said Richardson.
