Tattersalls Mares
Sale kicks off today

THE circus moves on today to the final leg of the Tattersalls December Sale, the four-day mare auction which comprises 1,083 lots, only 14 fewer than last year. Selling begins at 10am.

Sumora, the dam of this season's outstanding two-year-old Maybe, promises to be one of the highlights of tomorrow's session. She is one of 13 Group 1-producing mares entered to the sale alongside the likes of Honorine, dam of Treasure Beach, and Mrs Marsh, dam 0f Canford Cliffs.

"It's an impressive catalogue containing some outstanding fillies in training, world-class Group-producing mares," says Jimmy George, marketing director of Tattersalls. "There is plenty to catch the eye of leading breeders throughout the world."

Other high-class entries include last year's 1,000 Guineas first past the post, Jacqueline Quest, Lolly For Dolly, Memory and Prix Vermeille runner-up Testosterone.

Last year's sale saw 644 horses of 888 offered changed hands for a total of 34,544,800gns and average of 53,641gns.
