Lord Admiral tops entries for ERA sale

WITH only next week's Super Thursday left before Dubai World Cup night at the end of March, the annual end of season sale is scheduled for Nad Al Sheba next Tuesday and Wednesday with the select international carnival section on Tuesday.

Tattersalls will again be in charge of the selling and 47 horses have been catalogued for the Tuesday, headed by Lord Admiral who won the Group 2 Jebel Hatta on Super Thursday last year and is expected to be entered for that race again, two days after he goes through the ring.

Mike De Kock's Royal Vintage also won on Super Thursday last year, in the Al Bastakiya from stable companion Honour Devil, before finishing second to the same horse in the UAE Derby. He and multiple South African Group winner Biarritz, who is also Group 1-placed and has been placed twice at the 2009 carnival, head the De Kock consignment.

Vertigineux, a dual Group 3 winner in his native France and an excellent third on his UAE debut earier this month, will advertise his value in Thursday's Zabeel Mile and is anotherwho could have Jebel Hatta and even Dubai Duty Free aspirations on World Cup night.

Tom Dascombe's Clifton Dancer and Eoin Doyle's Mojito Royale are others catalogued.

"We are very pleased with the quality of horse entered for the Carnival session of the Sale and there are numerous opportunities for people to buy horses in preparation for our move to Meydan in 2010," said Frank Gabriel, CEO of Dubai Racing Club.

"Everyone is welcome, there is no admission fee and this provides an ideal chance to become involved in the racing industry here in the UAE."

"We are again pleased to be associated with Tattersalls and are pleased to welcome Al Basti Equiworld as the sponsor of the sale, the company having a great association with the Dubai Racing Club and Nad Al Sheba."

A further 97 lots not carnival qualified will be offered on the Wednesday.
